Knock, knock! Who's there? Snow! Show who? ......um....sorry. 'Snow use. I can't remember the punchline!
Yes,Christmas Chorus came early this year. We ushered in the holiday season with a performance at Nickel Plate Arts First Friday, then a series of nursing home/assisted living performances on Saturday. Sacred, secular, and silly songs were all part of the mix, along with really corny jokes. (Do you know how much Santa's sleigh cost? Nothing! It was on the house!)
While there was no chance whatsoever of a white pre-Christmas at any of our events, the unseasonably warm weather meant we got to sing outside for Nickle Plate and see lots of families out appreciating art. We also met or reconnected with Sweet Adelines and their families at all the senior care facilities we performed at - such a joy! Our best discovery was that singing for memory care patients and little kids has one great thing in common: enthusiastic audience participation! It's inspiring to have people sing old favorites with us, or volunteer to ring the jingle bells for us while we sing. And for everyone we disappointed by not knowing "Little Drummer Boy" - we promise, we're already hard at work learning it for next year.
